How the bus card recharge works

A short walkthrough — from the number on your Hafilat card to a topped-up balance on Abu Dhabi buses.

01

Find your number

Turn the Hafilat card over. The 10-digit number sits under the ITC branding: 1234 5678 90.

02

Open Recharge

Go to Recharge. Enter the number, pick a preset amount or type a custom one up to AED 500.

03

Confirm payment

Card details go on the secure payment page — not on our servers. Once confirmed, your Hafilat recharge is queued.

04

Ride

Balance is applied the same working day. Tap the card on any bus validator and go.

Understanding the Hafilat card

Hafilat is the smart transit card used across Abu Dhabi city and regional buses under the Integrated Transport Centre network. Each card carries a prepaid AED balance; the fare is deducted every time you tap on the on-board validator.

Card categories

  • Standard — anonymous card, sold without personal details.
  • Personal — issued in your name with a photo, protected if reported lost.
  • Concession — discounted category for eligible students and seniors.

All three categories share the same 10-digit number format and can be recharged through this service.

Payment

We accept AED-denominated debit and credit cards. Card entry happens on a licensed payment page — no card data is stored on our servers.

Timing

Requests during working hours (Sunday–Thursday, 09:00–18:00 Gulf Standard Time) are processed the same working day. Late-evening, Friday and Saturday requests are typically applied the next working morning. If you need to travel early, top up in advance.
